The following is useful information, so please review the following items carefully.
Proof of Immunization Compliance
All incoming students must establish proof of immunization compliance. This is done by submitting the proof of Immunization Compliance Forms to the Student Health Center. Please visit the Student Health Center website at http://www.tulane.edu/%7Ehealth/Immunization.htm for the necessary information and Proof of Immunization Compliance Forms. REGISTRATION WILL BE BLOCKED FOR ANYONE WHO HAS NOT SUBMITTED PROOF OF IMMUNIZATION. The Dean’s office cannot lift this block.
Registration and Confirmation
Registration will be held August 20-21. August 24 is the first day of class. August 31 is the last day to confirm registration.
After confirming your registration, you should apply for your student ID card, and your Tulane e-mail account. Online registration (TOUR) is available. Please visit the Registrar’s Office website at http://www.tulane.edu/~registra/index.shtml for further instructions of this
process. You will need a PIN (Personal Identification Number) in order to use either of these systems. PINs cannot be transmitted electronically. You will be able to obtain this by contacting Elizabeth Keith in the Science and Engineering Dean’s Office located in Room 201 Lindy Boggs Center. Please be prepared to present a picture ID when requesting this.
Prior to registering, please meet with your advisor for assistance in selecting courses for which you will register and then proceed with the process.
Students Receiving a Stipend from the School of Science and Engineering
The university has been notified by the Internal Revenue Service that it must have valid social security numbers on file for all employees and/or students who will receive a stipend. As a result of this notification, ALL APPLICANTS, INCLUDING PERSONS WHO ARE NOT CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES, MUST PRESENT A VALID SOCIAL SECURITY CARD PRIOR TO RECEIVING A STIPEND OR OTHER PAYMENTS. Any potential new hire/student who does not have an original social security card must go to a local office of the Social Security Administration and complete Form SS5 which should produce a social security card within three to four weeks from application.
It is mandatory for all who students who have been awarded a teaching assistantship, research assistantship or fellowship to enroll in Direct Deposit in order to receive payments.
You will be required to complete and submit various employment forms necessary for the Payroll process. These forms can be downloaded from the Payroll Office website at http://www.tulane.edu/%7Epayroll/forms.htm.

In addition to the above-listed documents, all international students receiving a stipend are required to go to Tulane’s International Tax Office for additional documentation. The staff there will assist you in the completion of the additional forms.

For those students who have been awarded stipends and prove employment eligibility, the first stipend check for the Fall 2009 semester will be disbursed on Friday, August 21, 2009.
PLEASE NOTE: ALL STUDENTS RECEIVING A STIPEND MUST PRESENT A VALID SOCIAL SECURITY CARD BEFORE PAYROLL PAPERS CAN BE PROCESSED.
2009-10 Tuition and Fees
The 2009-10 tuition and fee schedule can be found on the SSE website at http://www.sse.tulane.edu/pages/grad.prospective.tuition.fees.php. All tuition and fee costs are subject to increase each academic year.
Medical / Hospitalization Insurance
The University's policy is that students must have health insurance coverage. This requirement can be met by subscribing to the student health insurance plan offered through the university. The cost of the plan for the 2009-10 year is $1,754.00. You will be required to provide proof of other coverage if you do not wish to subscribe to this plan. Please contact the University Student Health Center upon your arrival at Tulane regarding the health insurance plan or to verify other coverage. International students should contact the International Student Center regarding
